WHAT IS ABA THERAPY?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the process of studying behavior and determining the function of behavior in order to implement appropriate behavioral interventions. Although the therapy is not exclusive to autism, ABA is an effective treatment for children with autism.

ABA uses positive reinforcement in order to increase desirable behaviors and improve the skills of an individual. Typically, an ABA therapist works one on one with the child.

ABA therapy is individualized to each child depending on skills, needs, interests, and family situations.

ABA works on communication, activities of daily living, fine and gross motor skills, social skills, and coping skills. ABA focuses on decreasing problematic behaviors and teaching safe and appropriate replacement behaviors.
