Life and Career Readiness Skills focuses on developing the practical skills individuals need to increase independence and successfully participate at home, in the community, and in future work environments. Training is individualized to each person’s abilities, needs, and goals, with an emphasis on building confidence, responsibility, and independence.
What we work on:
Daily Living Skills: Cooking and meal preparation, household responsibilities, personal care, hygiene, and other skills that promote greater independence.
Time, Money, and Household Management: Developing skills to manage time, follow routines, understand and use money, plan purchases, and manage everyday responsibilities.
Shopping and Community Skills: Practicing skills needed to independently navigate stores, make purchases, follow a shopping plan, and complete everyday errands.
College and Job Readiness: Building communication, self-advocacy, problem-solving, and interview skills to help individuals feel prepared and confident in future college and employment settings.
Community safety and Independence: Practicing safety and appropriate ways to navigate public settings, interact with others, make choices, and participate in community activities with greater independence.
One on one therapy: Providing individualized instruction and support tailored to each person’s unique goals, strengths, abilities and areas of need.
